God Works in the Ordinary

It is easy to look for God in the big moments—the breakthroughs, the miracles, the major turning points. But much of our lives are made up of ordinary, everyday moments. And sometimes, we may wonder if God is present in those moments. The truth is, God often works in the ordinary. In Zechariah, chapter 4, the first part of verse 10, we are reminded:

“Do not despise these small beginnings…”

God does not overlook the small things. In fact, he often uses them. The conversations that seem simple. The tasks that feel routine. The days that feel uneventful—God is present in all of it. Growth does not always happen in dramatic ways. It often happens quietly, gradually, over time. There may be seasons where life feels repetitive. Where nothing seems to be changing. But those seasons are not meaningless. God is working in ways that may not be immediately visible. So I encourage you not to overlook the ordinary moments in your life. Invite God into them.

God is not only present in the extraordinary—he is present in the everyday. When we begin to recognize that, we start to see his hand in places we once overlooked. Let us remain attentive, knowing that he is always at work.
