Choose Forgiveness

Forgiveness is one of the most difficult things we are called to do. When someone hurts us, our natural response is to hold onto that pain, to protect ourselves, and sometimes even to seek justice. But God calls us to something different. In Ephesians, chapter 4, verse 32, we are told:

“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”

Forgiveness is not about saying that what happened was okay. It is about releasing the burden of that hurt and trusting God with it. Holding onto unforgiveness can weigh us down. It can affect our thoughts, our emotions, and our relationships. But when we choose to forgive, we experience freedom. Forgiveness is not always easy, and it may not happen overnight. But it is a choice we can make, again and again. So I encourage you to bring your hurt before God. Ask him to help you forgive, even when it feels impossible.

Forgiveness is not just for the other person—it is for you. When we release others, we free ourselves. Let us choose forgiveness, just as we have been forgiven.
