There are moments in life when things simply don’t make sense. Situations unfold in ways we didn’t expect. Prayers seem unanswered. Doors close without explanation. And we are left wondering why. In those moments, understanding feels important. We want clarity. We want answers. We want to make sense of what is happening around us. But faith does not always come with understanding. Proverbs, chapter 3, verse 5 reminds us:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.”
This can be difficult. Because our natural instinct is to figure things out. To analyze, to reason, to connect the dots. But there are times when God calls us to trust him beyond what we can comprehend. God sees the full picture. He knows what is ahead. He understands the details that we cannot see. And while we may only see a small part of the story, he sees it all. There may be seasons when things feel confusing. When circumstances don’t align with what you hoped for or expected. When it feels like you are walking without clear direction. In those moments, trust becomes a choice. It is choosing to believe that God is good, even when life feels hard. It is choosing to believe that he is working, even when you cannot see it. It is choosing to believe that his plan is greater than your understanding. Trust does not eliminate questions—but it gives you a place to stand while you have them. You may not always understand why something is happening. But you can trust who is in control. So I encourage you, if you are facing something that doesn’t make sense, bring it to God. Be honest with him about your questions. But don’t let the absence of understanding shake your faith.

Understanding may come later—or it may not come at all. But trust can exist even without it. When we choose to trust God, we anchor ourselves in his character, not our circumstances. Let us trust him fully, even when we don’t understand, knowing that he is always working for our good.
