God's Timing

Timing is something we often struggle with. We may know what we want, we may feel certain about where we are headed, but when things don’t happen when we expect them to, frustration can set in. We live in a culture that values immediacy. We are used to fast results, quick answers, and instant progress. But God does not operate on our timeline. In Ecclesiastes, chapter 3, the first part of verse 11, we are reminded:

“He has made everything beautiful in its time.”

Not in our time—in his time. There are moments when we pray for something good—something that aligns with God’s will—and yet, the answer does not come right away. The opportunity doesn’t open. The change doesn’t happen. The breakthrough doesn’t arrive. And we wonder why. But delay is not denial. God’s timing is purposeful. He is not simply responding to our requests—he is orchestrating circumstances, preparing hearts, and aligning details that we cannot see. There are times when what we are asking for is right—but the timing is not. We may be ready for the outcome, but not ready for what comes with it. God, in his wisdom, sees both. He understands not only what we want, but what we need. Waiting can feel uncomfortable. It can test our patience and stretch our faith. But it also produces something valuable within us. It teaches us to trust. To depend on God. To surrender our sense of control. Think about the times in your life when things didn’t happen when you wanted them to—but later, you could see why. Perhaps you weren’t ready. Perhaps something better came along. Perhaps God was protecting you from something you didn’t see. God’s timing is never late. It is never rushed. It is always right. So I encourage you, if you are waiting for something today, don’t lose heart. Don’t assume that God is withholding from you. Instead, trust that he is working.

God’s timing requires patience, but it also produces peace. When we release our timeline and trust his, we begin to rest in the assurance that he knows exactly what he is doing. Let us trust him not just with what we want, but with when it comes, knowing that in his time, all things are made beautiful.
