Control is something we all desire. We want to know what is going to happen, to plan our future, and to feel secure in our circumstances. But the truth is, much of life is beyond our control. And that can be unsettling. But there is comfort in this truth: while we are not in control, God is. Nothing catches him by surprise. Nothing is outside of his awareness. He sees the beginning and the end, and everything in between. Proverbs, chapter 19, verse 21 reminds us:
“Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.”
We may have plans, goals, and expectations—but ultimately, God’s purpose will stand. This does not mean that life will always go the way we want it to. But it does mean that God is working, even when we cannot see it. There may be moments when things don’t make sense, when doors close, when plans fall apart, or when the path ahead feels uncertain. In those moments, we are faced with a choice: trust ourselves, or trust God. So I encourage you to trust him. Even when it’s hard. Even when you don’t understand.

God’s control is not something to fear—it is something to find peace in. Because the one who holds all things together is also the one who loves you deeply. Let us rest in that truth, knowing that our lives are in his hands.
