The heart is a powerful thing. It is the center of our emotions, our desires, and our decisions. What we allow into our hearts will ultimately shape the way we think, the way we act, and the way we live. In a world filled with distractions, negativity, and temptation, it is easy for our hearts to become polluted. We may not even realize it at first. A little compromise here, a little bitterness there, and over time, our hearts begin to drift away from God. That is why the Bible gives us this instruction in Proverbs, chapter 4, verse 23:
“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”
Everything we do flows from our heart. Our words, our actions, our attitudes—they all originate from within. If our heart is aligned with God, then our life will reflect that alignment. But if our heart is consumed with the things of this world, then our life will reflect that as well. Guarding your heart means being intentional about what you allow in. It means being mindful of what you watch, what you listen to, and what you dwell on. It means choosing forgiveness over bitterness, truth over lies, and faith over fear. So I encourage you to examine your heart. Ask yourself: what have I allowed in that doesn’t belong? Then bring it before God, and allow him to cleanse and renew you.

We often focus on outward behavior, but God is concerned with the inward condition. You can change your actions temporarily, but lasting transformation begins in the heart. If we truly want to live for God, we must start by surrendering our hearts to him daily.
