Surrendering Control

Control is something we all desire. We want to know what is going to happen, to plan our future, and to feel secure in our circumstances. But the reality is, much of life is beyond our control. Trying to control everything can lead to stress, anxiety, and frustration. We carry burdens that we were never meant to carry. But God invites us to release that burden and trust him instead. Proverbs, chapter 3, verses 5 through 6, gives us this instruction:

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

Surrendering control does not mean giving up—it means trusting God more than we trust ourselves. When we try to control everything, we are essentially saying that we know better than God. But when we surrender, we acknowledge that his wisdom is greater, his plan is better, and his timing is perfect. Surrender is not a one-time decision. It is a daily choice. It is waking up each day and saying, “Lord, I trust you with my life.” So I encourage you to let go of what you cannot control. Release your worries, your plans, and your fears into God’s hands.

There is freedom in surrender. When we stop trying to control everything, we make room for God to work in ways we never could. Let us trust him fully, knowing that he is faithful to guide us every step of the way.
