The God of all creation is faithful, compassionate, slow to anger, and abounding in love. He loves us with a deep and personal love—one that does not give up on us, even when we fall short. One of the clearest expressions of that love is his willingness to forgive. You may have heard the phrase, “don’t bite the hand that feeds you,” meaning that we shouldn’t hurt the one who provides for us. Yet, if we are honest, that is exactly what we do when we sin against God. He is our provider, our sustainer, and our redeemer—and still, we turn away from him. It is part of our human nature. But thankfully, it is part of God’s nature to forgive. The book of Lamentations reminds us of this truth in chapter 3, verses 31 through 32 which says:
“For no one is cast off by the Lord forever. Though he brings grief, he will show compassion, so great is his unfailing love.”
God does not abandon us in our failure. Even when he corrects us, it is not out of cruelty, but out of love. Like a loving father, he disciplines us so that we might return to him and be restored. There are times when we may feel the weight of our sin. We may feel distant from God, ashamed, or unworthy. But those feelings should not drive us away from him—they should lead us back to him. God’s forgiveness is not something we earn. It is something he offers. So I encourage you, if there is anything in your life that is separating you from God, bring it before him. Confess it. Lay it at his feet. Trust that his compassion is greater than your failure.

God’s love is not fragile—it is steadfast. He does not turn away from us at the first sign of disobedience. Instead, he calls us back with open arms. Let us not run from him in our sin, but run to him in repentance, knowing that his love and forgiveness never fails.
